Opened in 1959 on land that was once occupied by a hazelnut farm, Meridian Golf Par 3 is a family run golf course in beautiful Surrey. As far as par 3 courses go, Meridian is more challenging than most. The large trees, creek and hilly terrain conspire to make most holes play tight, with many hidden shots to be made throughout the course. Evidence of the old nut farm can still be witnessed near the 9th tee where a nut house (used for cracking the hazelnuts) still stands. Come see our scenic and challenging terrain in person! We intend to engage and empower the community through a number of activities, including guided walks through local Vancouver neighborhoods that focus on birds and their habitats. We will also conduct workshops about art and how its can help people gain a greater understanding of our local ecology. We anticipate that through a program of research, outreach, and education, that people will start to take into account non-human uses of the city. Jesse Garbe, MFAJesse Garbe is a Sessional Instructor and Alumni of Emily Carr University of Art + Design. In 2008, he also graduated from NSCAD University's MFA Program, where he received the Joseph Beuys Memorial Award. Jesse's recent work examines our relationship with nature. It puts forward the idea that paintings, diagrams, taxidermy and other visual aids play a significant role in how we understand animals, plants and their habitats.
