This section is dedicated to the history of Port Dover's commercial fishing industry, which continues to be an important part of local life.Permanent Galleries present exhibits on the days of commercial sail as well as Lake Erie shipwrecks, ship building, Long Point, rum running, and other aspects of lakeside life in this unique community.Outdoor Attractions include the 1932 fishtug Almidart, a 1912 lake-freighter wheelhouse, and access to the river along our picturesque wooden dock. Since 2002, the museum has been the home to a major collection of artifacts from the 1852 wreck of the Steamer Atlantic near Long Point.

Hamiltons first Waterworks pays tribute to the social and working life of the early industrial revolution and the spirit of Canadas Ambitious City. The museum preserves the oldest surviving Canadian built 70 ton stationary steam engines, one of which is set in motion daily for demonstration purposes. Experience on demand guided tours and special events for the whole family including drop in programming during Family Day, March Break and Christmas, and Live Steamer Days in partnership with the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers from May through October. The Canadian Drilling Rig Museum is located in Rainham Centre, at the corner of Rainham Road and Kohler Road (formerly Regional Roads 3 & 8) It is situated on the south west corner of the town. Located in Wolseley Barracks, the museum showcases the history of Canada’s military since 1883. Permanent galleries, gift shop, events and groups space occupy today the west wing of the old Infantry School Building made between 1886 and 1888. Visitors are welcomed in the old archway entrance, upgraded to barrier free access. Detailed displays, spanning on two floors, are inviting the visitor to explore the history of Canadian military commitments, nationally and internationally. Hands-on activities, education programs, and events are held periodically. The collection is vast and includes a large variety of artefacts, partially available online.
