Since 1916 Harrow United Church has been a centre of community activity and a place of Christian worship, nurture and service. From its beginnings as the Sunshine Hall on Arbuthnot, offering a place for children and youth in the growing Crescentwood neighbourhood, to its present incarnation on the corner of Mulvey and Harrow, the congregation has always had an outward focus, looking for ways to make a difference in the community and the wider world. Since the very beginning of the Catholic Church a mystery of Divine Mercy has been contemplated by Christian believers. Christ's redemptive mission was nothing but an act of reconciliation of us people with God. The Christians believe that the Church was symbolically born at the moment when Jesus' side was pierced on the cross. Water and blood came out of his heart as a sign of our purification through the baptism and salvation through the precious sacrifice of life.

The Webmaster Nestled among schools and homes in a vibrant corner of Windsor Park, St. Bartholomew currently has a parish membership of 170 familes. The church has a new spiritual leader, Rev. Dr. Lee Titterington, who is eager to meet members of the local community. ''I have been impressed with the strength and vitality of the congregation,'' said Titterington.'' Their dedication and cooperation provides a firm foundation for the many outstanding programs offered at the church,'' he continued, ''The vacation bible school this summer was a tremendous sucess and a new group has formed to coordinate the Food Depot. The church has adopted new watchwords for the coming year: 'Reaching forward to what lies ahead' (Phil 3:13). ''This has installed parishioners with a renewed engergy for our many outreach programs,'' stated Rev. Deacon Helen Hunter. ''The Food Depot for Winnipeg Harvest is just one of so many outreach programs. We also have a companion parish in Ugand,a support the efforts of the Primatés World Relief and Development Fund, and work in the area of social justice, amont other initiatives,'' continued Hunter.

The Foundation was formed to assist the member entities of Synod to manage, conserve, and be responsible for all legacies, bequests, endowments, foundations, annuity gifts, and all other trust funds of Synod. This service extends to all congregations, auxiliaries and service organizations that support the mission and ministry of Lutheran Church Canada.In the early part of this decade, it was decided to merge the District foundations into the Synodical foundation, thereby providing a single point of reference for foundation activity within LCC, improved service to individual members, and significant savings in management due to economies of scale. The Foundation's Board of Directors consists of two appointees from each District, three appointees by the Synod, and two advisory members - the President and Treasurer of Synod.In summary, the Foundation exists to support the various organizations of LCC, by soliciting major gifts for these organizations, primarily as part of an individual's Christian estate plan

Believing the liturgy to be source and summit of the Christian life, the community strives to celebrate in the most inclusive and prayerful manner possible. In our worship everyone is gathered at the table with seating all around the altar. All are engaged in active participation. The presiding and preaching is strong, and the word of God is proclaimed with conviction. The symbols of the liturgy are rich and full, the music ministry is vibrant, and the environment is one of hospitality and joy!Sharing the FaithNurtured and sustained by the vigorous celebration of the liturgy, the community is inspired to share their faith in a variety of ministries within and outside of the parish. Within the parish some serve the liturgy as mass coordinators or members of the environment committee.

Liturgy of the EucharistPlease note that for the next two years, the Archdiocesan focus will now be on 'Building Community.'During winter and spring flu season and throughout the year, many people avoid shaking hands in order to minimize transmission of colds and flu. Parishioners should not feel obligated to shake hands for the greeting during the Gathering Rite and the 'Peace' greeting during the Mass. Nor should anyone feel hurt if their neighbour does not extend their hand. It is important to show care and friendliness, but there are many other ways: a brief nod, a respectful bow, or a cheerful smile are all perfectly acceptable. Archdiocesan guidelines for H1N1 ('swine') flu precautions were promulgated in September 2010 for liturgy and for parish operations . 'Stage 1' precautions were put in place in 2009 but have since been suspended by the Archbishop's office. However, it is stressed that we should continue using hand sanitizers in the church and maintain good hygiene practices.Outside Volunteer OpportunitiesAssist people living in personal care homes in our area: Volunteers respond to varied needs, including assisting residents to come to Mass when it is held in their residence
