Shari Bender is a Vancouver psychologist. As an individual and couples counsellor and a child therapist, she works with adults and children on issues of grief, loss, trauma, early wounding, anxiety, depression and fear. She helps grown ups and kids build resiliency, a stronger sense of personal power and a more embodied sense of self.
I first started counseling at the Toronto East General Hospital Walk-in Crisis Centre in 1981, and have continued learning ever since. I've had plenty of academic training, at three different schools--York University in Toronto, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Much of that training involved discussing clients with senior clinical psychologists.
The clinicians at Westcoast Child Development Group provide assessment, individual and group treatment, and professional consultation. Clinicians work closely with individuals experiencing issues that may include: depression, anxiety, school and family problems, social skills difficulties, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, behavioural issues, and autistic spectrum disorders.
