Dr. Ian has been married for over 22 years and has 8 children (ages-almost 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, 9 years, 11 years, 14 years, 17 years, and 20 years of age). Personally, Dr. Ian became a Christian in 1987 and since then has held firmly to a Christian worldview perspective. Dr. Ian has been heavily influenced in his understanding of how to help people by the teachings of Dr. Larry Crabb, Dr. E. James Wilder, Dr. Karl Lehman, and Dr. Ed Smith.
