We are ready to improve the Lord's property at Holy Trinity Cathedral- at our AGM this year we had approved a Capital expenditure project: the repaving of our parking lot, something that regular users of the parking lot all can agree. RED RIVER HERITAGE FAIR Congratulations to the Grade 6 students who represented our school so well at the Red River Heritage Fair at the University of Winnipeg on May 1st. The students had a wonderful time observing the hundreds of amazing projects by grade 4 to 11 students from across Manitob,a participating in several hands-on workshops, interacting with the judges and answering their questions, and meeting students from across the province.Each year the grade 6 students participate in various fun and educational workshops. This year's workshops included: soap stone carving; making aboriginal leather necklaces called spirit pouches; an amazing scavenger hunt; and an interesting talk on The Untold Stories of Winnipeg. As well there was aboriginal drumming during the lunch hour and an Open House and Awards Ceremony in the evening. It was an action-packed day, one that will remain fondly in our memories! All of our students received medals for their wonderful projects.In addition, some of our students were fortunate to receive SPECIALTY AWARDS, as follows: CANADA'S HISTORY AWARD (Awarded to the Top 3 Projects in the entire fair!)

Taras Shevchenko: 200th Celebration Through ArtIn 2014, as recognition and celebration of 200 years since Shevchenko's birth, MPUE engaged 5 Artists to lead an art project that would span all grade levels throughout the 12 English Ukrainian Bilingual Program (EUBP) schools in Manitoba. Students worked under the guidance of the commissioned artists to collaborate and create a child's interpretation of Taras Shevchenko's significant contributions to Ukrainian cultural identity. The children were asked to base their images on the 3 different themes: Kindergarten to Grade 2/3 - Taras Shevchenko's Birthplace Grade 3 to 5/6 - An Illustration Based on Taras Shevchenko's Writings Grade 6 to 8/9 - What Taras Shevchenko Stood ForThe artist worked with the individual schools, students and teachers and expressed the work in the fabric based medium of their choice.
