Libra House provides temporary crisis shelter and related services for woman and children who are experiencing relationship violence, including physical, sexual, financial, mental, psychological, socioeconomic or emotional abuse. Happy Valley-Goose Bay is like the 'hub' of Labrador, so our location allows us to provide services to women who may be relocating in and out of this area of the region.Empowering Women to Be StrongAt Libra House, our friendly and experienced staff members provide temporary crisis shelter in a cooperative and communal living arrangement. Our team works to empower women like you to make their own decisions and be independent for themselves and their children. With various other organizations in the area, we offer off-site empowerment groups for women.

The Combined Councils of Northern Labrador was formed in 1972 when the communities of Nain, Makkovik, Davis Inlet and Hopedale met for an inaugural conference to address issues that were similar in each municipality.Together as a united voice they lobbied government officials for improvements in their region. In 1979, the Combined Councils of Labrador met in North West River and expanded to include all communities in Labrador, forever changing the face of Labrador politics.
