Post Natal Helpers Ltd. was originally established in Calgary in 1983 to provide support for families adjusting to life with their newborns. Over time we have expanded to include family care during the intensive early years and now provide care for toddlers, preschoolers, and children with special needs. The individuals working with this organization all have strong childcare backgrounds. They are interviewed, reference checked, have a police security check (vulnerable member of society level clearance), and attend a Post Natal Helpers orientation seminar. Our primary focus has always been childcare. While we are in the home, parents have the opportunity to stay and rest or to leave on a flexible, part-time basis. Our aim is to provide support that helps reduce stress and fatigue and in turn strengthens the parent-child bond. Springbank Cottage Childcare will provide a safe, nurturing environment, and a program of activities to enhance development of the whole child while considering the individual, varied needs of families within the community, Qualified, committed staff members will provide opportunities to create, explore, problem-solve, play indoors and outdoors, interact with others or enjoy private time. Children will be encouraged to make choices as they might in a healthy home environment. Children will be assisted in making smooth transitions between school and the program throughout the day by staff members who serve as supportive, responsive role-models. Ongoing communication and opportunities for involvement will be provided to parents. We believe that staff members and parents are partners in children's care and overall development.

Our well established licensed preschool offers a fun, learning through play program. Caring, qualified teachers provide a happy, stimulating environment for children to play, learn and explore. We offer 3 & 4 year old programs which are 2 & 3 days per week as well as 5 afternoons per week option for 4 year olds. NO parent volunteering is required, but parents are always welcome in our bright and cheerful classroom. We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL. We have the use of a large gymnasium where kids do bean bags, parachute, hoops, movement games and lots more. Child care Subsidy is available for all programs!

Community & Family Services Sonshine Centre is a one-year residential facility with counseling and supportive services for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
