Roma Kulyk (nee Hupaliwska) is a Canadian fashion designer of Ukrainian heritage. She grew up in Montreal and started taking sewing lessons when she was 12 years old. Ms. Kulyk received various degrees from Concordia University, including Political Science, Eastern European Studies, Business Administration, Economics and Design. Upon graduation, she landed a job at The Hudson's Bay Company where she gained experience in various areas of fashion retail Ms. Kulyk moved to Toronto in the 1980s, and at the time was heading The Bay's buying department for Women's Fashion. For a decade, she travelled to the fashion capitals of the world, such as London, Paris, Milan, Florence and Hong Kong, hand picking designer lines to be featured in the stores. Eventually, she moved from The Bay to Forsyth, a company that manufacturers for private labels, such as Pierre Cardin and Daniel Hechter. From this role, Ms. Kulyk gained exposure to material sourcing, manufacturing and distribution on top of her experience in design and merchandise buying
