Lobstick Literacy & Learning Society receives its core funding from Alberta Innovation and Advanced Education (AIAE). Therefore, we strive to meet AIAE community adult learning program priorities and guidelines. The priorities that we address are: Enhance access to learning and increase participation of adults in learning; Increase literacy and essential foundational skills of adults; Help adults transition into further learning or employment; these are the priorities that help shape our programming and within our programming we address these essential skills. The Essential Skills are: Numeracy, Reading Text, Writing, Document Use ,Digital Technology, Thinking Skills, Oral Communication, Working With Others, Continuous Learning.

Rajinder Singh (Ron) Sunner & Surinder Kaur (Susan) Sunner established Laketown Furnishings Ltd. in the summer of 1971. Ron & Susan opened their first location on 1st Avenue in Williams Lake in a 2000 square foot building. Forty-two years later Laketown Furnishings still serves Williams Lake & the surrounding area. Over this period of time the business moved several times until it found two inter-connected buildings on 2nd Avenue in 1993. Many customers comment on how this complex resembles a giant maze.
