As an exterior building cladding, Stucco is durable, attractive, weather-resistant and virtually impervious to the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation that can be so damaging to other exterior claddings, and best of all it is maintenance free. Stucco has traditionally been used as both an interior, and an exterior finish. Often applied in one or two thin layers directly over a solid masonry, brick or stone surface, although today it is more commonly applied on a reinforcement wire lath over wood framing . The finish coat usually contains an integral color and typically has some appropriate texture for appearance. Today there is a broad assortment of Stucco systems and finishes to choose from, however the finishes can be broken down into two categories; traditional cement base finishes, and acrylic finishes.
