In honor of October 1st the International Day of the Older Person, Harmony Court Estate Retirement Community and Burnaby NewsLeader celebrated local seniors. Together we are so proud to recognize and celebrate those contributions, achievements and diversity of our local seniors through our award and nomination process.

The roots of Fraserside Community Services extend back to 1972 when a small group of people formed a support group to help one another cope with, and overcome, personal challenges. Calling themselves Self Aid Never Ends (SANE), members believed that the most effective way to overcome personal difficulties was through self-help. With a government grant, the group developed its first community initiative - The Sapperton Thrift Store. Soon after, the group formed a non-profit society and opened an Achievement Center for people with developmental disabilities.

At Pomegranate, we are sowing seeds for a strong and vibrant community of women, children and families.Pomegranate Community Midwives started as a vision. We wanted to have a space where women and families could receive comprehensive midwifery care, attend classes geared towards pregnancy and beyond, benefit from complementary therapy and make meaningful connections with their community.We designed our space to meet our vision.
