White Cap Distribution was founded in February of 1984 by Paul Lavallee, President, W M Burgess, Vice President and Ed Laurin, Secretary / Treasurer. They collectively brought together over 65 years of food service experience. From our modest beginning of a little more than a hundred skews, we have grown to several thousand and have progressed from seafood supplier to a multi line distributor, and continue to grow.White Cap Distribution supplies its variety of products to restaurants, hotels and institutions. The Burrows-Keewatin area was first developed in the early 60's, when the City built a low-cost housing development which was federally and provincially subsidized, on a section of land in Northwest Winnipeg. At the same time, a group primarily interested in promoting and building Housing Co-operatives, was incorporated as the Co-operative Housing Association of Manitoba (CHAM). They developed plans to build townhouse units in the same area of the City. The City agreed to lease 11.6 acres of land for 60 years to CHAM for $50,000.00, to develop the Willow Park Community. On March 1, 1961 Willow Park Housing Co-Op Ltd. was incorporated as the first major continuing housing Co-Operative in Canada. On November 9, 1970, a second continuing housing co-op was incorporated as Willow Park East Housing Co-Op Ltd. and built in the Willow Park Community. Willow Centre was eventually incorporated on December 23, 1970 as a result of needing a community place which would provide services for its members.

The history of the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre has always been removing barriers for our children. It continues to remove barriers for its participants in all programs.PROGRAM GOALSWASAC delivers a number of programs thoughout the year. Each of these programs maintains a strong focus with four key areas for both employees and participants: Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity.BelongingIn all WASAC programs, we strive to create an environment where participants and leaders feel welcomed. Every person who is involved in our programs receives a shirt with the program name stamped on the front. This is to show them that they are part of a team.MasteryEveryone feels proud when they look at themselves knowing that they have talent. WASAC programs are designed to provide workshops for both participants and leaders. Youth mentorship plays a big role in our organization and we go above and beyond to remove barriers for people to notice their talents. We give many opportunities for participants to shine in sport, art and crafts, and cultural workshops.
