Before Len's Mill Stores, there was Norfolk Knitters - a manufacturer of children's clothing in Port Dover, Ontario. Len Menary took over the business from the original 5 owners in 1970, and opened a small outlet store to accompany it. In 1974 heavy industry came to Port Dover, and Norfolk Knitters was unable to remain competitive - but at the urging of his customers, Len focused his attention on the retail business.
