GEWC bid a fond farewell to Pauline Jarrett who has been our bookkeeper since July 2008. Pauline presented a Letter of Resignation in December. To express their appreciation the Board of Directors extended Pauline a Christmas 2010 Bonus. Also on behalf of the Board of Directors, she was presented with a small token of appreciation at the last Wednesday Night league gathering, and received warm applause from our members. Pauline remains a member of the Wednesday Ladies league.Marlies Guenther has accepted the position of Bookkeeper starting January 5th. Please welcome her to the GEWC team!Marlies Guenther, I was born in Vancouver and have lived here for most of my life, except for a brief period in the 80's when I lived in Ontario, where a lot of my family is from. I also spent 10 years living on the Sunshine Coast in a small town called Egmont. I now call sunny (!) Port Coquitlam home and have lived here for 3 years. I have spent most of my career in the accounting field and after nearly 20 years of working as an accountant in various industries including manufacturing, heavy equipment, and construction, I decided to start my own bookkeeping business. I truly love what I do and never tire of crunching numbers . When I have free time, I like to spend it outdoors taking in all that the west coast has to offer. I enjoy cooking and entertaining and am passionate about learning and self-improvement. I also love spending time with my 10 month old puppy, Shelby.I am very excited about joining Lynne and the team at the Golden Ears Winter Club. The only real question is what stage are you currently experiencing?There are five components to consider in the aging process; chronological age, physical makeup or wellness, basic personality, spiritual health and cultural influence.Generally, in this culture, aging refers to people in their elder years, as if they are the only ones aging. What is being referred to as the aging process is the normative developmental changes over a life span. In childhood, we learn the security of dependence and socialization. During youth, we experience an introspective, egocentric time and develop our sense of identity through relationships, skills, knowledge, physicality and independence. Young Adulthood is where we cement our identity, develop beliefs, friends, families and/or career. Adulthood is the 'sandwich generation' for many North Americans raising children and supporting the elderly while often handling careers

Colleen founded Twin Rinks Physiotherapy Clinic in 1994. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she graduated from the University of Manitoba, School of Rehabilitation Medicine in 1988. Colleen received a diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 1998 and Acupuncture certification in 1993. She is certified in IMS Gunn Intramuscular Neural Stimulation and is a member of iSTOP (Institute for the Study and Treatment of Pain). IMS is a dry needling technique for patients with chronic pain and long standing musculoskeletal problems. Colleen has taken special interest in the concept of core stability and has developed an exercise program to help people improve their spinal stabilization. She has been involved in the treatment of many athletes involved in running, gymnastics, dance and contact sports. Colleen stays fit by running, skiing and gardening.
