The Laurel Centre provides individual and group counselling to women who have experienced childhood and / or adolescent sexual abuse.Significance of the Laurel TreeIn Greek mythology, there is the story of a wood nymph named Daphne who is much like the Greek goddess Diana - independent, athletic - a huntress. In the myth, the god Apollo pursued Daphne in what would be interpreted today as a sexual attack. Daphne called to the river god for help and was transformed into a laurel tree - a symbol of victory and triumph. The Laurel Centre represents the transformation and triumph of its clients. The laurel leaf is a symbol featured in the Centrés logo.History of The Laurel CentreIn the early 1980's those working in the addictions field realized that many addicted women - up to 80% - were also struggling to overcome the trauma resulting from childhood sexual abuse. Many were unable to deal with their addictions because their lives were too painful. At the time there were no services for women that treated addictions and abuse together.
Love is...When I am honestly looking at my life I can see my short comings in the area of love. I come to the place of desperate need of God who has to be my source of even wanting to love others. When I see the deficits of love in my life, I need to get back to the source and spend some quality time with God my Father who is extravagant in love and mercy. When we come to him desperate in our neediness, we are always welcomed and embraced.

There's a good and bad side to every wallet, but it all depends on what you think good or bad is. For most, the good side would store your I.D., which allows you entrance into the local disco and to buy beer and cigarettes for the party afterward. The good side might also hold a steamy photo of your hot babe or that frequent sandwich buyer punch-card. On the bad side of the wallet might be the junk you never want to see, but for some reason feel you must hang on to. Like that old speeding ticket that you never paid any attention to or the receipt for the cream that cleared up your mysterious rash. Whatever it is, fill this wallet with all your stuff - good or bad! This design is courtesy of San Antonio native Jason Limo´n.
