The Mattawa-Bonfield Economic Development Corporation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports economic development, on a regional basis, for five rural area municipalities.

Directly in front of the lodge is the White Bear Old Growth Forest, a 2,000 acre (800 hectare) ancient ecosystem of giant red and white pines (up to 5 feet or 1.5 m in diameter) and a variety of at least twenty five different species of rare northern orchids. The lodge is accented in cedar and knotty pine while our eight comfortable units have electric heat, town water, three piece showers and full cooking facilities. All linen and cooking utensils are supplied. Our restaurant seats 18 hungry guests comfortably.

A lot of creativity and skills they managed to create their costumes: a reindeer, a Christmas tree, a sled, a big gift package and of course, Santa Claus was the special guest.The children were really surprised when they met the volunteers dressed up and after few minutes they started to go to them taking some sweets and asking for a picture with Santa Claus.The event was really successful, the children were happy to have the party in their school with the volunteers who came back to their childhood for a morning.
