Independent Living Centreof Waterloo RegionThe independent living centre of Waterloo Region (ILCWR) was the first Independent Living Centre in Waterloo in Canada, founded by the Mennonite Central Committee in 1982. ILCWR is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that is dedicated to providing consumer-directed services and programs to help people with disabilities achieve independence. ILCWR depends on dedicated volunteers, fundraising and generous donations from the community to meet the needs of our consumers. Your donation will help give the gift of independence to a person living with a disability in Waterloo Region.
More News and Information Fee Assistance Leisure Access Program is a program of financial support for residents with low income living in Waterloo, that helps individuals participate in City of Waterloo recreational and affiliated minor sport and arts programs. The assistance is given in the form of a credit to eligible individuals. The amount of subsidy is based on total family income. Click here for more details. The Kitchener Portuguese Club is a non-profit organization that has proudly served the Kitchener-Waterloo community since January 1969. We strive to cultivate, maintain and enrich our Portuguese heritage while trying to be a positive influence on our local community.Our board of directors organizes a large amount of varied events to bring people together at our Portuguese club facilities and to share time together as a community. Langs (formerly Langs Farm Village Association) was established as a community development project in 1978 by a group of citizens and service providers concerned about vandalism and the lack of accessible services in the community. These individuals believed that the establishment of a community-based organization would play a positive and preventative role in the neighbourhood.Langs is a neighbourhood based organization, but has become so much more! Langs has grown to become a dynamic, respected community development organization providing comprehensive health and social support services that are responsive to the changing needs of our region.
