The Winnipeg Rowing Club is located on the Red River just south of The Forks in downtown Winnipeg. It is one of the oldest sporting organizations in Western Canada.The Winnipeg Rowing Club has been in operation since 1881, stopping only twice in its history – during WWI and WWII. It survived the Northwest Rebellion of 1885, the General Strike of 1919, the Great Depression of the 1930's, the Great Flood of 1950, and the Flood of the Century in 1997. Over the years the clubhouse has been destroyed by fire, wind, and water, but has somehow always managed to maintain its long and proud tradition.Today, the WRC is a non-profit organization, with a rich and successful sporting history, and fostering generations of camaraderie and friendships. Waverley Heights Community Centre (WHCC) basketball teams will be playing in the Community Club Basketball League (Club Basketball) being offered by the WMBA. The WMBA also offers a Rising Stars League. Rising stars athletes may not play on a WMBA Community Club team during the same season.
