Dr Rocque Nobert is wonderful! I called yesterday after the office was closed because of a really bad toothache and Rocque offered to meet me at the office and open it up just for me. He and his lovely wife took time out of their Friday evening to look after me! Amazing! When I decided in 2015 to leave the world of conventional work in favour of making mosaics full time, a friend texted "Great to see you stepping into where your head has lived for far longer."
WowFactor Mosaics is the coming together of a lifetime of making art, a love of the materials of mosaic, and my degrees in interior design and art history.
Glass, stone, tile and found objects - some new, some repurposed, some picked up in unlikely places - often inspire the outcome themselves (see Strata - glass and salvaged beach glass piece on Gallery Page).
The first project I completed was my bathroom wall and vanity countertop...the wall a spontaneous floral explosion, the counter a more peaceful curvilinear rock stream. Without exception, everyone who saw it said "Wow!", followed by some further comment or question. After hearing the same response several times over, I realized this new endeavour already had a name, and WowFactor Mosaics was born.
