One day, long ago, the Tainos Indians came upon a beautiful gem in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, and they fell in love with its beauty. The land was so filled with resources that they could only fittingly name it Xaymaca. This land was later given the name Jamaica which still carries the said meaning - The Land of Wood and Water.

I would like to love this place, but it's not good value for money. Food isn't flavourful, portions are small.
That said, service is good, and the settings, on the floor of the church or in the Belfry, are beautiful.Read more

The menu includes traditional English fare like beer-battered fish with English cut fries served in a variety of ways, or contemporary creations like soy and ginger marinated beef tenderloin, and their award winning roasted tomato and wild mushroom soup, garnished with Stilton, basil pesto and croutons.
The menu is not extensive and there was no overall 'theme' but the food we had was pretty good. They recommended a great wine and the waitress was excellent - both friendly and helpful.
We booked at the last minute and were glad we did. Not a fine dining experience if that is what you want but a comfortable experience. We split a salad and the entree portions were a good size. My husband had a Thai noodle type dish and he really enjoyed it. I had the prime rib which came as I requested. We didn't have dessert but marvelled at a couple of plates that went by.Read more

....The noodles arrive in a large, shallow bowl with an elegant shape. Arrayed on top of the noodles in orderly rows are the pork, shrimp and a darkly crisp spring roll, along with strips of vinegared carrot and daikon, shredded cucumber, fresh mint leaves and bean sprouts. Nuoc cham sauce arrives on the side in a pretty little star shaped ramekin. The aroma of the grilled pork tantalizes. It has been sliced thin to maximize the crispy charred exterior, while still being pleasantly fatty and tender. The spring roll is perfectly fried and filled with a dense mixture of delicately chopped meat and vegetable. The shrimp has been finely minced and mixed with a good dose of garlic, before being formed around a sugarcane skewer, reminiscent of a sophisticated Pogo.....

As dessert connoisseurs we can say the bitter chocolate hazelnut torte was to die for. The food was great, the decor eclectic (in a good way). The wait staff were so very courteous and helpful - and gave just the right amount of attention.

The service here is great. I'm obsessed with the Singaporean-style slaw to the point where I've drove across the city just to get it as take out.
The portion is great to save for a quick bite the next day.
The tables are a bit close together in the room off the main room but the attentiveness of the servers makes up for it! Read more
