Any single, pregnant woman or new mother may access our services.There is no cost to any resident of Manitoba not living in a First Nation community - block funding through the Province of Manitoba and the United Way allows Villa Rosa to provide all services free of charge to young women who are pregnant and need a safe and healthy place to stay. However, Villa Rosa is not financially responsible for transportation, spending money, clothing needs, personal needs or medication. EUTC is a Winnipeg-based service organization in operation since 2005. We are mandated by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs to serve as a social service organization addressing transitional issues of First Nation citizens. Centrally located in Winnipeg's downtown, the EUTC assists more that 1700 individuals and families in the areas of housing, addictions, referrals, counseling, advocacy and other enhanced services. The influx of clients and the broad array of transitional issues indicate the growing demand and need for culturally relevant services by and for First Nation citizens.The EUTC serves as a hub of information and central location for clients seeking transitional support while living in and/or relocating to Winnipeg. Diagnostic Learning Centre -
This program provides short-term observation, diagnosis and explicit individual instruction in reading, writing and word study, along with the development of teaching and learning strategies related to Language Arts, organization and independence. These strategies are then presented to each student’s school team for transfer to the classroom setting.
The target group of students is in grades three to six. The program is available to any student in the Winnipeg School Division who is referred by the home school and who meets the admission criteria.
DLC classes are housed at Ashland and Wellington Schools.
During the year there are four sessions of eight weeks each. Students attend either a morning or an afternoon session, spending the rest of the school day in their regular school classrooms.
Programming can be provided in either English or French. French Sessions are offered at Ashland School as needed.
