HEDGE is a 55+ apartment complex that reconsiders the typically modest seniors' housing typology as an opportunity for architectural richness. The four-storey project consists of 48 apartments distributed between two buildings that together frame and preserve a mature stand of cottonwoods. The building's circulation scheme and the landscape intertwine so that experiencing the well-treed courtyard becomes an integral part of everyday life.Starting from the ground floor and continuing upwards to the roof terrace, a gently sloping promenade moves from interior to exterior and back again, forming a continuous walkway that weaves the buildings together and bridges the half storey height differential separating them. The boardwalk serves a pragmatic role by providing access to common exit stairs for both buildings, and also offers a recreational amenity for residents - a means to take a daily stroll through the trees.The building is clad in corrugated corten steel, with added depth provided by a mesh screen that spans vertically between eight inch deep flashing angles, creating space where planters can be placed.

Teen Challenge of Central Canada is a 12-month Christian discipleship program for men & woman struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction. The first Teen Challenge centre was founded by the late David Wilkerson, author of The Cross and the Switchblade, more than 50 years ago in Brooklyn NY. Today Teen Challenge operates more than 1000 programs in 80 countries around the globe, making it the largest and most successful faith-based drug treatment program in the world. Teen Challenge of Central Canada began in 1995 with a small 10-bed trailer in Hadashville, Manitoba. Today we run men's homes in Winnipeg, Denare Beach and Thunder Bay as well as our woman's home in Brandon. Our administration office/vehicle donation shop building is located on the outskirts of Winnipeg.

One morning when he went out for his usual visit, he found his tiny pet had been killed by rats. Unfortunately for the rats, they had outraged a boy named Napoleon Louis Poulin who would later found Poulin's Pest Control.Poulin's Pest Control started as exterminators in the 1940's and was incorporated in 1946. Poulin would later help write a piece of Canadian history; his efforts and talents were the main result of Alberta becoming a 'rat free' province.Poulin's always maintained a high quality and an outstanding reputation as a leader within the Pest Control industry. Napolean Louis' son Don, has maintained the same high calibre of service that his father did so many years ago. Under the guidance of their father, Don's two sons, Lincoln and Ashton, have both taken a great interest in the Pest Control industry as well.
