Modern medicine has excelled in the fields of infectious disease and emergencies in the last 100 years. Although, in the treatments of chronic and degenerative diseases, it is mostly control that it aims for, which is another name for palliation. Conventional drugs, surgery and radiation do little to reverse the disease. These options slow the progression, sometimes with very little benefit, and too often at a great cost in quality of life for the patient.
The Oakwood Canadian Bistro is a fun and unpretentious neighbourhood room specializing in down-to-earth Canadian fare and casual service. The bistro welcomes with a chic Canadian log cabin feel, while the name pays homage to the reclaimed wood materials used in the space, as well as Kitsilano's tree-themed street names. A staff of passionate industry professionals ensures a quality, welcoming experience. The concept for the Oakwood Canadian Bistro was drawn from classic French bistros, in which families invited the public into their homes to eat simply prepared, locally grown food in a warm, casual setting. Striving to utilize local, Canadian ingredients whenever possible, Executive Chef Michael Robbins and his team are guided by a food philosophy focused on fresh, house-made dishes influenced by French techniques. The small, seasonally changing menu caters to market availability and the sustainability of the products.
Going along Broadway I have noticed the restaurant many times and finally decided to drop in for brunch to give it a go. We sat outside, we didn't mind waiting for a table there. Service was fine and the food came fairly soon. I had an excellent smoked ham benedict which came with cubed fries and a very fresh salad.Read more

Farming is in Rob Lepp's blood. The Lepp family, once Saskatchewan grain farmers, arrived in Abbotsford in 1948. Rob's father purchased the Matsqui property where Lepp Farm Market now stands, and developed a hog and cattle farm there. Following high school, Rob joined his father, and together they expanded Lepp Farms into a large hog operation. Rob and Charlotte are grateful for the opportunity of raising their three children-Carrie, Michael and Jason - on the farm. Lepp Farm Market is the fulfillment of Rob's passion for farming, and a long-held dream of being able to continue the tradition of a family-run farm. Rob knew the location of the property was ideal, but the timing had to be right. After learning of the 100 Mile Diet, and its common-sense approach to the advantages of eating local, the idea turned into a plan. In May 2009, the first shovel was pushed into the ground.
