The mission of the Pahkisimon Nuye?áh Library System is to provide library services and educational and cultural resources to the people in northern Saskatchewan in cooperation with the existing library and educational structures and to communicate the uniqueness of the north to other regions of the world. Because the north is unique in lifestyle, geography and culture, it is important to express togetherness through a library organization directed by northerners whichpromotes cultural awareness and education through a stong united voice.

The Parkland Regional Library Service originated in 1970 as a library demonstration project funded and administered by the Province of Manitoba. The terms of reference for the experimental project were to test ways and means to provide efficient yet effective library service to rural Manitobans. In fulfilling its mandate the project brought library service, in one form or another, to virtually every community in the Parkland region.
The Library is named after Miss. Pauline Johnson. She was a school teacher who taught in Lundar for many years. She was born in 1895 and immigrated to Lundar from Iceland in 1900. She retired in 1961 after spending her entire working career as a teacher.In 1995, a former student of hers, Don Johnson, made a large monetary donation to start a library in her honor.
