Since 1959, members of the SDHBA have worked together, committed to building a strong industry and producing the best housing in the region. Like our provincial and national organizations (the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders' Associations) we believe that every Canadian has the right to a reasonable opportunity to own their own home. The mandate of the SDHBA is to be the voice of the residential construction industry in this region. We are a voluntary association of members involved in the residential construction industry. Our members represent various disciplines from builders, renovators, suppliers and other related services and professional groups, such as, land surveyors, lawyers, financial institutions, manufacturers to name a few. Members of the SDHBA must adhere to a strict code of ethics.

Manitoulin Island is unique in many ways – it is the world's largest sweet water or freshwater Island. It has more than a hundred inland lakes between its shores, and many of those lakes have Islands on them!
