United Way has worked to prevent social problems like child poverty, bullying and senior isolation in the Lower Mainland for over 80 years. Working with over 150 community partners, we fund about 450 programs each year to create a better future for children and seniors.
Through innovative programming, we assist new immigrants with settlement; provide counselling and support to families and individuals with personal issues; promote personal development of children and youth; facilitate social participation of parents and seniors in the community; help the unemployed in job and career development; facilitate entrepreneurs in business development; deliver education and employment related training; and promote social change through community development and advocacy.
At Burnaby Family Life, we pride ourselves in our flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the community. 40 different languages are spoken by our staff, allowing us the diversity needed to embrace all cultures, increasing understanding and breaking down barriers. We're blessed with a dedicated Board of Directors, committed professional staff and volunteers and we're grateful for the support we receive from hundreds of donors, sponsors and members.
