Mission Statement To provide emergency food items to Markham residents in need. The Food Bank was founded in 1984. Jean Lee was concerned about people going hungry in the town. The founding directors were Sheila Spinks and Phylis Tyrie. Gladys Keeble joined a few months later.
Alternatives has been committed to serving the needs of adults with developmental disabilities. We are a registered charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of people in need of special services and support. To assist adults with developmental disabilites to integrate meaningfully within their communities by providing both life and job-skills training and experience.

In support of this vision, YRFN works to raise public awareness on the many issues affecting food security such as affordable housing, adequate employment, education, accessible childcare and social assistance policies through programming, outreach and advocacy initiatives.
