Arcadia Academy of Music

Carlaw Conservatory, Markham's homegrown, family-owned music school, was born and raised in the heart of downtown Markham. It has lived on Main Street all it's life, since way back in the last century. For more than a quarter of a century, Carlaw Music has extended its services to the people of Markham, young and old. Our students range from young, inspired dreamers to older, retired gentlefolk exploring their inner music. And through it all, the beating heart of The Carlaw Music Experience has been our band program. In that time we have formed and instructed scores of bands, and watched them mature and develop into highly entertaining acts, many of which continue to perform in Markham and beyond.

At Elva’s Piano Studio I offer professional level lessons with a personal touch. Private lessons for ages 5+ are available along with Royal Conservatory of Music piano exam and music theory exam preparation. I truly believe that all students benefit from music lessons regardless if their goal is to attain a high standing with the RCM or if they’re learning for personal development & enjoyment. I follow the RCM curriculum & methodology as it’s the best route to develop an in-depth understanding & appreciation of music. Lessons are customized to individual students based on learning styles - various teaching techniques are used. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo & I’m a RCM Certified Teacher (Elementary/Intermediate/Advanced Specialist) teaching beginner level up to Grade 8. I stay current with RCM requirements and focus on professional development by attending workshops and completing online courses. I love to teach & build relationships with my students!
