Massage therapy has a deeply personal significance to me. In 1995, I discovered that I had extensive degenerative damage in my neck (cervical spine), most likely due to playing football. In 2005, I had a herniated disk that protruded into my spinal cord in my neck.

Raincoast Therapeutic was established in Yaletown, at its present location, 1049 Cambie Street, the southwest corner of Cambie and Nelson Streets, in early 1997. Clayton Giles completed the 3000 hour Massage Therapy Program from WCCMT in 2013. Clayton’s approach to massage therapy is multi-dimensional, using a combination of massage, teaching functional movement patterns, giving home care exercises, and demonstrating proper workplace ergonomics. This multifaceted approach is important in achieving a pain free life and preventing further injuries from occurring. Clayton uses a number of different techniques in his massage practice such as Swedish and deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and joint mobilizations. His clinical background is in treating and preventing common workplace injuries such as headaches, shoulder and neck pain, postural issues, disc injuries, low back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. He has even treated numerous athletes in a variety of different sports from all levels. Clayton’s hobbies include going to the gym, running, hiking, hockey, golf, fishing, and playing music.
