They are also deeply committed to working with the participant in addressing the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that those experiencing intellectual challenge and/or mental illness face every day: discrimination, poverty, stigm,a isolation, loneliness.Introducing the Fallen Leaf FundThe Fallen Leaf Fund is a fund established by Turning Leaf (Inc.) in 2012 designed to raise money to ensure critical services – crisis counselling, safe housing for women at risk, and addictions treatment – can be provided to those living with mental illness and intellectual challenge. UFCW Local 832 was founded in 1938, and it had grown to about 700 members by 1964 when Bernard Christophe was elected president. By the time he stepped down as president in September 2002, the membership of the Local had grown to over 15,000. Today the membership sits at over 20,000 and continues to grow under the leadership of the current president, Jeff Traeger.

A custodial engineer at Bison Transport in Winnipeg, Johnson works in the shops department, which ensures the safe operating condition of the Bison fleet of 1100 trucks, 4000 trailers and other equipment. On any given day, Johnson may spend his day driving through the city, picking up parts for trucks in the shops, or even picking up their drivers. Johnson may spend his shift cleaning and organizing sections of the shops; as a qualified forklift operator, he might spend most of his time managing the forklift. He has received the company's 'charging ahead' award for his exceptional service.
