This place is overpriced for what you get. My friend and I shared a light dinner, a glass of wine each and tea, and our bill (with tip and tax) came to $100. I ordered the gnocci in tomato sauce, which was very good, and the bread was tasty. But for a meatless meal with no dessert and no appetizer, the prices are too high. It seems like you're paying for atmosphere. The service was pretty good, but at the end when it got busier we had to signal for service. I think there's better value out there for the money. Seemed like a lot of people there could "expense" their dinners, which explains the crowd. Read more
Come enjoy a yummy meal at ARDO. They are readily accessible by public transit and bicycle. Come visit them in a location known as stimulating.
Have eaten here twice. Both times, the service and food were amazing. I'm a celiac, and they have a lot of gluten free options for me, too, which is nice. Love the risottos, salads are awesome, and the creme brulee was amazing. The butternut squash soup was also to die for! Plan to eat here many more times, highly recommend. Read more
Pasta is the superstar at this Old World Italian eatery, where high ceilings and brick walls enclose nothing short of a pending experience in exquisite dining. On-line reviewers swoon over the homemade pasta and pizza, and collectively scoff at the notion that one might find anything pedestrian to eat at this innovative King West spot. The frequently updated menu is date-stamped, to demonstrate its recency, but staples like nodini (little fists of bread brushed with olive oil, sea salt and rosemary) and parmigiana di melanzane (layers of preserved tomato, fried eggplant and cheese) are perennial favourites. Buca's wine list is respectable; the cocktail selection is inventive and the service is stellar.
The flavour of the pasta was amazing. The aged beef was exquisite. Service was second to none. Wine parings were excellent. Thank you for a great evening. I wish I had the recipe for the pasta. Read more
Terrazza is a casual place where neighbours, friends, and family gather to share good times.
This stylish Leslieville restaurant and wine bar takes the marriage between food and grape seriously. Every dish here is predicated on a particular wine with which it might be fruitfully paired. On the list, find comfort-food favourites, like roast chicken and flat-iron steak. On-line reviewers rave about the crispy chicken tails. The wine list at this former auto parts warehouse is more robust, spilling over with reds, roses, whites and sparklings, an impressive 40 of which are available by the glass. The décor is pleasingly minimalist, with a long bar, partially open kitchen and spacious dining area. Service is impeccable, and regulars come back for the abundance of happy-hour specials, like on-the-house amuse-bouches and $1 oysters.

The kind of spot Marlon Brando or Frank Sinatra might show up for a 'za and a glass of malbec, this hip Annex trattoria is a standout for lots of reasons. Take, for example, the consistently yummy pies that tumble out of its state-of-the-art, imported-from-Italy pizza oven. Or the eight interesting by-the-glass wines (picked at the owner's discretion and subject to seasonal change-ups) that flow from the on-site Enomatic machine. Or the fresh pasta and tomato sauce prepared to exacting standards in the Mercurio kitchen. Or perhaps it's simply Bar Mercurio's comfy atmosphere — intimate enough to be date-worthy but quaint enough to host a solo experience with gusto — and the attentive, personalized service that flourishes within it.
This is a low lit, romantic, swish place. Not too big, and sometimes not too busy due to its location I think. But its a secret that a few people I have met RAVE about. Good italian food is not difficult, it's just about the ingredients and l'amore. These dishes I had were outstanding, and you know that feeling when it surprises you?! I can't wait to go back.
