Bistro Sakana, long considered a Yaletown sushi icon, continues to impress diners with a high standard of quality and service that has remained consistent for over 10 years. Creativity is paramount here, and at Bistro Sakana the goal is not only to satisfy, but to inspire as well. Some of the city's most original Japanese fusion dishes, including the use of brown rice in sushi, were conceived here, and that creative spirit lives on. Bistro Sakana also has a reputation for freshness, and like all good restaurants in Japan, this starts with a daily visit to local markets. Chefs at Bistro Sakana are very much in touch with their Japanese roots, but also willing to experiment. Here you will find both traditional Japanese cuisine alongside a variety of colourful fusion dishes. Try the Tuna Avocado Crepe or the Teppan Roll, inspired by French and Italian influences and interpreted from a uniquely Japanese perspective.

Ontario's preeminent purveyor of oysters, shellfish and seafood. Rodney Clark, aka 'The Urban Oysterman,' has been serving the very best of the sea since 1987. Visit www.rodneysoysterhouse.com for a list of seasonal items we see over the course of a calendar year.
I try and hit up Rodney's whenever I am in Van. Located on trendy Hamilton St. it's got some serious character. Sit at the bar for a great view of the oyster shucking and some lively chat with the bartenders. Staff is friendly with plenty of personality. They have an oyster happy hour 4-6pm (if I remember correctly) where it's half price oysters. And seeing as many of the oysters and ingredients come right out of the ocean around BC the food is beyond fresh. And in case you were wondering, this place has the best selection of oysters I have seen yet. 11 different kinds on the last visit. My favorites being Fanny Bay and Kushi. Good selection of craft beer on tap too. Read more

One of the great top 5 Sushi places in Vancouver. The Sushi has excellent presentation, and it tastes great. Not your average sushi rolls, but the ingredients they use and the way they use them make for a great dining experience. Be prepared to wait and dine 10 inches away from the next table, it’s a tight squeeze, but worth it. Service could be more attentive. Read more
