Best udon in the city--anywhere, Japanese or Korean. Matched only by the service--attentive, intelligent and pleasant. We originally tried Tokyo Grill 2 to make reservations for a birthday for our 94 year old Japanese auntie--they simply refused, and not very pleasantly either. We came by Menami by chance, googling the area and "udon", her favourite food these days. The food strikes a happy balance between creative and traditional. We could not have been happier. Come taste a savory dish at Koganei Japanese Restaurant. They are open late all week. You can get there by car and enjoy your meal at home thanks to their delivery service.
Food: Last week was my first time trying Koganei so I didn't get to try lots of food. However, Koganei roll was one of the best roll I ever had. it's bit pricey for a roll (almost $15 with tax) but it's worth it. I do not know exactly what's in the roll (it's shrimp tempura roll with some little bit spicy orange-red stuff with tiny fish eggs on the top) but it was amazing. (I wish red stuff on the top was more spicier though.)
I also tried miso base noodle soup (noodles and veggies in miso soup) which was salty for my taste. did not really like it.
Service: wait staffs were nice and helpful. when i went, there weren't many people in the restaurant so i didn't have to wait long to order and get my food.
Atmosphere: table setting seemed little weird to me because little table for 2 people were placed right next to booth but decor was good.Read more
I made reservations and went to the restaurant at the end of May for my 18th birthday party. It looked very elegant fom the mall entrance. The ambience was very modern and cozy, though it was slightly noisy at times. Service was prompt and attentive with our orders and the manager even came and brought me a piece of chocolate cake with "Happy Birthday" written in icing on the plate.
Everyone unanimously agreed that the food was great. We shared a group veggie, chips, and dip platter and I had the steak well done. It was cooked to perfection and was artfully arranged with savory garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. The cake
I received was delicious, as was the sorbet a friend let me try.
Overall, the evening went perfectly and the meal was easy on the wallet since none of us drank any alcohol. I would definitely come back here or to another Oliver & Bonacini managed etablishment.Read more

I've been here a few times over the years and this restaurant does not disappoint! The food is pretty standard for American cuisine and is usually well cooked, though I once had chicken that tasted off. The signature sauce that comes with meals is amazing! Dessert portions are too small for the price but prevent me from overeating. Service is friendly but sometimes slow during peak times.
I'd recommend this place for family meals (it's not private enough for dates). The atmosphere has a comfortable, homey feel to it. I definitely recommend the classic rotisserie chicken!Read more

Katsura is tucked away in a separate, but connected, building right beside the main building of the Prince Hotel.
The food here is very good but only slightly better than the cheaper places in the area. The teppanyaki tables are good. The sushi is fresh. The prices are high and the portions are not particularly large.
So why would someone choose this place over its cheaper competitors? It's the decor and the service that makes this place stand out. From the moment you step in out of the snow, you are surrounded by tasteful Japanese decor. In the main dining area, the place is elegant, simple and to the point. The design allows large groups to eat in semi-isolation. This is the restaurant you impress your dining partner, be it a business meeting or a first date.Read more
