Simcic + Uhrich Architects is a newly created architectural studio founded on the 37 years of combined experience of it's two principals –Marko Simcic and Bill Uhrich.Building upon our ongoing individual commitments to make thoughtful and meaningful architecture, we have created an architectural practice where, in an increasingly complex building industry, we can provide our very close personal attention to all aspects of your projects. At Simcic + Uhrich Architects, we begin each project with careful conversation as a means to discover and reveal the essential ideas and imaginings of the client, program, history and landscape. This first step ensures a rigorous process from execution through to completion. In place of one distinct architectural style, our work is distinguished by its commitment to an open and collaborative approach- one which is evidenced by the highly diverse nature of our past projects.

The firm of Birmingham & Wood, Architects and Planners was established in Vancouver in the 1930s. The original partners, William Birmingham and Woodruff Wood, were key in the development of West Coast Modernist architecture. Their body of work was comprised largely of institutional and residential buildings uniquely suited to the materials and landscapes of the West Coast. The firm's work has been included in three definitive shows of regional architecture: the 'Poetics of West Coast Modernism' , 2005; 'The New Spirit' at the Vancouver Art Gallery, 1997 and 'A Measure of Consensus'at the UBC Fine Arts Gallery, 1986. The current partners, Sandra Moore, MAIBC and James Burton, MAIBC are committed to continuing the legacy of Birmingham & Wood. Institutional and residential projects comprise the greatest part of the firm's current work.
