The Hiiye'yu Lelum (House of Friendship) Society provides health, social, recreational and cultural services to promote individual, family and community self-reliance. These services address the needs and aspirations of aboriginal people and focus on well-being within a cross-cultural context. To provide a cultural bridge between the Aboriginal and non-aboriginal cultures in the Cowichan Valley. To provide a central facility where counselling, information and referral services are provided and where meetings, education and recreation activities may take place. Island Waterwise Irrigation was incorporated in February of 2009. Owner Mike Isacson had been working in some of south Vancouver Island's finest gardens since 1995 (including that of the late, great John Trelawny and his wife Ruth in North Saanich). He began operating his own gardening and landscaping business in 1996. Over the years, he increasingly dedicated himself to the study of efficient irrigation practices, and is now one of BC?s most highly certified irrigation professionals. He also teaches irrigation classes for both The Horticulture Centre of the Pacific and the CRD.
