The Downtown Huntsville BIA, like other Ontario BIAs, is municipally legislated. Our main source of funding is an additional property tax levy paid by commercial property owners (falling within our designated geographic area). Because the BIA levy money is used directly towards improvements in the business community that pays for it, you might even call it a self-help program designed to stimulate business growth. In the Downtown Huntsville BIA our funds are directed towards streetscape improvements, beautification efforts (such as Christmas lighting, flower planting), downtown marketing and promotions, community events, and our Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery project, and more.Even though times have changed since 1970, the need for BIAs is just a strong as it was when Bloor West Village was formed. Bloor West Village was facing a drop in customers when the subway system replaced the street trolleys. Their situation was compounded with a proliferation of shopping malls blossoming on the outskirts of the city, where customers were drawn to climate controlled shopping and free parking.

The Township of Pickle Lake is located at the end of highway 599 in Ontario. There is something exciting about 'the end of the road' and this phrase brings with it an image of wilderness. Our slogan of 'The Last Frontier' is truly the feeling that you get after you have traveled the distance to our community. Pickle Lake is at the end of the paved road, however, you can continue traveling north on a gravel road for another several hours. Although you may make that trip, you will only find more trees and lakes, as the last services are in Pickle Lake.We encourage you to come and explore the vast untouched virgin Boreal forests, go fishing in our many lakes for the great tasting walleye/pickerel, or fish for the large northern. Bird watchers will enjoy the bald eagles, owls and sandhill cranes, while hunters will look for moose, grouse or other game birds.

Restorative Justice Online is a service of the Prison Fellowship International Centre for Justice and Reconciliation. Its purpose is to be an authoritative, credible, non-partisan resource of information on restorative justice. The Restorative Justice Online editors have developed several features they hope will help users navigate the site. RJOB was created in 2009 to provide a forum for timely information and commentary about restorative justice developments. RJOB entries include news items of interest as well as commentary by a group of engaging 'correspondents' on various dimensions of restorative justice. It will offer a wide range of perspectives and information so that the regular reader is well-informed about restorative justice, the movement behind it, and the obstacles to its implementation.
