The Regional District of Nanaimo provides regional governance and services throughout Vancouver Island's beautiful central east coast. Communities within the regional federation include the municipalities of Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach, as well as seven unincorporated Electoral Areas. Established in 1967, the RDN is British Columbia's fifth most populous Regional District, of 28 throughout the province, and home to more than 140,000 people.

November 19, 1989 marked the first of many Easter's Sundays, monthly dinners held at McLaren House for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Lordco Parts Ltd. was incorporated in August 1974 by its two founding members, Roy Lord and Ed Coates. A simple combination of their surnames gave the company its name, and they hired one employee to help them in their modest 900 square foot store in Maple Ridge, B.C.From the beginning, the two shareholders agreed that success would only come through a diligent, common sense approach to selling automotive parts. Knowledgeable salespeople selling quality merchandise, backed by a commitment to service wouldn't create instant success, but would give them a fighting chance to make it in the long run.The formula would prove to be the right one. As the business gathered momentum, plans for the first expansion were developed. In 1976, a large site was purchased in Maple Ridge, and new, larger facilities were built. Today, it still houses the Corporate Head Office and Fleet Maintenance complex. To support its commitment to service, Lordco also purchased a local machine shop in order to offer more complete automotive solutions to its customers.Next came expansion to Mission, B.C. and before the decade was over, Lordco had become a major supplier of automotive parts on the north side of the Fraser River. The plan remained to grow at a controlled rate, and the two owners continued to reinvest their profits in order to strengthen the company.

Dr. Edward Zhang is known for his caring, and professional attitude and chair-side manners. He likes to treat all of his patients like one of his own family members. Dr. Zhang is trained in all aspects of dentistry but especially enjoys cosmetic dentistry and endodontics (root canals). Dr. Zhang graduated from UBC Faculty of Dentistry and West-China University School of Dentistry. As a dentist, he has over 20 years of experience. He believes that education does not end the day of graduation and thus has continually upgraded his skills and dental knowledge through continuing education opportunities. With every patient is unique in mind, Dr. Zhang is committed to respecting every patient's needs, budget, and schedules. He believes educating our patients is an important part in establishing a mutual dental relationship. We use intra-oral cameras, digital x-rays, brochures, and study models to discuss multiple treatment options in order to help patients decide on the best treatment for them.
