Created by Nelson BC’s most unique and perennial learning institution, Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences’ RMT and TCM diploma programs cultivate the next generation of TCM professionals and Registered Massage Therapists in the heart of the Kootenay mountain region in Nelson, BC.
Founded in 1996 as The Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences, the school’s four TCM diploma programs were modelled after similar programs in the People's Republic of China, coming from a pre-cultural revolution 400-year-old tradition. Our RMT program was launched in 2017 to bring greater health service education based on practical, hands-on experience to the Kootenays. Our 22.5 month intensive program features small class sizes and over 550 clinical hours in our student clinic. In 2019 we welcomed our first cohort to the Holistic Nutrition certificate program.
Our TCM and RMT practicums occur in our downtown student clinics, offering much needed affordable health care services.
