The mission of RCD is to empower people with disabilities to participate in the community to the level of their desires and abilities by providing information, resources, support and by increasing community awareness and accessibility. To facilitate or undertake projects, such as an information and resource centre, programs or services as may be required to achieve the charitable purposes of the Society. The need for specialized centralized information & resources in this area for people with disabilities was first identified by the RCD in the late 1980's.
The men's club is open to any men interested in joining. Our membership is open to the public. There is also a companion Ladies Club for interested women. Our members are both working and retired and come from all over Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Our membership is a mixture of young and middle age adults, seniors and retirees. Our weekend events are designed so that everyone can compete, have fun and enjoy the camaraderie. Unlike the private and semi-private golf clubs, there is no huge golf course membership fee.
The Cat Sanctuary sits on 6 acres of serene, suburban farmland. There are 2 main buildings and 12 smaller ones, including a kitten house and 2 feline 'AIDS' houses. Enclosed decks on the main buildings provide our indoor cats with access to fresh air and sunshine. Cats lounge comfortably on cushions, couches and in special cat beds. Our tame and feral felines cohabitate peacefully and contentedly.
