Founded in 2005, Shot in the Dark Productions is a Black Box Theatre that specializes in uncensored, award-winning and thought provoking shows. We are non-profit and volunteer run. In addition to our plays and musicals, we currently offer vocal and piano lessons for both youth and adults. The purpose of Shot in the Dark Productions is to take audiences beyond the place of comfort to a place of pure emotion, to true catharsis. We want to offer you a new way of thinking by exposing you to something unexpected. We want the theater community of Siouxland to flourish through the beauty of shared experiences. We want Shot in the Dark to be a place of discovery.Shot in the Dark was originally conceived by Eric Newhouse and Jamie Lempares, who wanted to bring modern theatrical experiences to Siouxland. Working together with friends and family, they raised the funds to produce ''The Vagina Monologues'' in November 2005. Shot in the Dark performed on several stages in Sioux City before finding a permanent home downtown.
