The vision and initiative to create an Aboriginal radio station came from the grassroots. A group of people from Cross Lake, Wabowden, and South Indian Lake were instrumental in forming a committee which later evolved into NCI.In 1985, NCI ventured into television production. NCI-TV programs have appeared on CBC Manitob,a North of Winnipeg, and on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN).
