Pair of Medics First Aid has been teaching lifesaving skills for several years, in the northern region of Vancouver Island, BC and now in the Alberni Valley. Pair of Medics First Aid Training was originally started because both Chris and Carla working as Primary Care Paramedics with the BC Ambulance Service would arrive on scenes and realize that most of the patients, that were critically ill or injured, could have had some lifesaving first aid provided to them prior to their arrival. Pair of Medics First Aid brings 24+ years of combined experience to the classroom. Chris and Carla are both certified training instructors with the Canadian Red Cross and are members in good standing with the local Chamber of Commerce. We provide the highest quality first aid equipment and supplies while offering our students a professional first aid program in a relaxed and fun environment. The Port Alberni Friendship Center, established in the mid-1960s, is one of the more than 119 friendship centres across Canada and 25 in BC, with a mandate of providing services for urban Aboriginals. The services presently provided at our center are counselling, recreation programs, legal help, some public health services, social events, crafts and cultural events, with a general drop-in atmosphere.The Friendship Center is a non-profit society made up of individual members, governed by a board, which is elected from the membership at large, and administered by an executive director, and a staff of up to 36 which includes temporary project staff of 4-15 depending on the season. The Friendship Center's core budget is funded by Heritage Canada and administered by the National Association of Friendship Centres {NAFC} and the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC). Other programs are funded by individual agencies with a focus on that particular subject area.

Comox Valley Project Watershed Society is a registered non-profit environmental society with Canadian charitable tax status focused on sensitive habitat stewardship. The organization is guided by a volunteer board and managed by staff. We are also a partner of the Comox Valley Conservation Strategy and have a representative on the Environmental Council.
