We meet at 221 Hampton Street, just offPortage - one block west of Berry. We are a non-denominational, charismatic, Bible-believing Christian Church (translation: we love Jesus, follow the Bible, and believe in the Holy Spirit). We meet at 10:00 am for a potluck fellowship brunch, then we have a worship service beginning at 11:00 am.West End Christian Community is led by a team of pastoral leaders, namely Robert Baron, George Balaktsis, Andre Cyr and Vic Geddert. In addition to this pastoral leaders' team, there are many others who serve in various forms of leadership in our Church. The feeling is family, the worship is vibrant and participatory, and the teaching is Bible-based. (See the excellent article My First Lenten Study in the June Elm Leaf .) Several participants wondered about resources to help them make Bible reading a part of their daily life. One resource for this is the Daily Office Lectionary found in the Book of Alternative Services. Beginning on page 450 of the B.A.S., it offers daily Bible readings on a two year cycle.

CRAVEAbout Mark and KathyMark and Kathy grew up in Winnipeg in the neighbourhood of Fort Garry where Church of the Rock is located. They have been married for over 20 years and have grown children.Mark graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Agriculture in 1977 and ran the family owned farm for 10 years. It wasn't until his mid-twenties that he entered Bible School and then went on to study New Testament Greek at Providence Theological Seminary. Mark has also been involved in politics over the years and in 1993 ran as a candidate in the federal general election.In 1996 Church of the Rock began televising their services on Manitoba's 'A' channel. Since then they have expanded to include cities from coast to coast across Canada (See: Broadcast Schedule). Mark's practical and humourous style has struck a chord with audiences of all ages and has consistently led the ratings for religious programs in every broadcast region.Pastor Mark has a deep interest in the unity of the churches in Winnipeg and is respected as one of the principal leaders of a city-wide prayer movement.
