With stores located at Arbutus Street, South Vancouver and Ladner, our materials and service have being supplying Vancouver's contractors and homeowners for over 50 years. The warehouse on Shaughnessy St takes care of the deliveries and keeps the Arbutus store fully stocked for business. We carry products from lumber, plywood and screws to power tools and safety equipment. Our story began in 1972, when Sid Shivji bought the business from its former owner. Several years after taking over the business, an unfortunate fire brought the building down. Sid rebuilt the store and reopened in 1975. The company has grown steadily with the support of the neighbourhood to what it is today, a great option for Vancouver's and Ladner's contractors and home owners. When someone needs fast access to quality hardware, building materials and complimentary insight to make every project more effective, Dunbar Lumber is the place to go.
I called 7 lumber yards to get a quote for a small project. Dunbar Lumbers price was 30% less then the next lowest one. Obviously I went with them. I did my order over the phone and e-mail and it was delivered to my door the next day. When it was discovered that an error had been made in my order they immediately accepted that, no hassle. The replacement pieces were delivered within an hour at no extra charge. Will I shop with them again? Duh. Probably won't even call around next time.Read more

Established in 2013, Great Wall Building Ltd. is an affiliate of Great Wall Construction Ltd. – a local family-owned construction company in business for two decades with an extensive project portfolio within Greater Vancouver and the BC Interior.
We have successfully completed residential, commercial and industrial projects in Vancouver, Kamloops, Revelstoke, Kelowna and Penticton. They ranged from hotel renovation, building restoration, upgrades and extension, to construction of mix-use buildings and high-end residential homes.
We have only one guiding principle in our company – “No matter how big or small the project is, we will do it right, on time and on budget.”
Right from the first planning session with our client, we will lay down every single detail regarding the project, from the initial design concept, finding the right material and vendors, to scheduling and follow through. Our ultimate goal is to deliver a project to the complete satisfaction of our customer.
This store opened recently as part of the revitalization of the area south of the Cambie Bridge. This is an interesting concept for the store that brought us the sprawling big box stores of the 'burbs that we have come to know and love. This store is on 1.5 levels on a smaller footprint and offers almost anything you can imagine for the do-it-yourself-er in an urban setting. In fact its the "almost" in the previous statement that costs this store a 5. It is true that they offer almost anything but if you want to do any larger projects involving copious amounts of lumber, landscaping stone, plants, soils and other landscaping materials you will still need to visit one of the big stores. All that aside, if you are looking for anything else this is a great store to hit, particularly given their location. My child and I particularly enjoy the monthly (every second Saturday) children's workshops where the kids get to build a fun, wood-based project. Afterward there are a myriad of options to pursue such as a walk at the sea-wall around False Creek or a hot chocolate at Starbucks. Check it out next time you're in the area and you will leave impressed!Read more
