Champions and MotivatorsWhat is in motion?In motion is a provincial strategy to help all Manitobans make physical activity part of their daily lives for health and enjoyment. Our vision is to make adult Manitobans healthier by increasing physical activity in the province to 55% by the year 2015.Most of us already know the importance of active living. Physical activity increases energy, reduces stress and strengthens the heart and lungs. The result is a better quality of life for every age group. Yet less than half of all Manitobans of all ages do enough physical activity to improve their health. What's needed is the motivation to get ourselves and each other 'in motion'. Events CCDSThe Canadian Centre on Disability Studies (CCDS) has a mandate dedicated to research, education, and information dissemination on disability issues.CCDS is guided by the philosophies of independent living and community living. The philosophy emphasizes human rights, self-determination, interdependence, equality, a cross-disability focus, and full and valued participation of all citizens in the community. FPS is a psychological practice with a multidisciplinary clinical team. Our practice is oriented to working with people in a holistic manner, addressing core issues related to problematic functioning with a strength-based orientation to facilitate change, personal growth and wellness. FPS offers two clinical streams. FPS Psychological Health Services provides general psychological services attending to an array of personal issues. Areas of specialization include addictions, abuse and trauma, emotion management and relationships. Forensic Psychological Services provides assessment, treatment, consultation and training in areas related to the application of clinical services in legal systems and to individuals who have come in contact with the law and/or demonstrate problematic behaviours that have the potential to bring them in conflict with the law. Both FPS streams provide services to children, adolescents and adults and offer culturally attentive and relevant services.
