The history of Quinte Mohawk School begins with five other schools. The four schools pictured below were revolutionary - they were some of the first Aboriginal day schools on Native territories. In the time these schools were created, it was much more common for Aboriginal children to attend residential schools off-reserve - away from their families and communities, separated from their culture. These four schools - Central School, Eastern School, Western (''Swamp'') School and Mission School - allowed autonomous control over education in the Tyendinaga community.
Kenzo Dozono's Tai-Chi School in Belleville has served the community for almost 45 years. Our school has produced many champions (International, Canadian National, Ontario) and numerous Black Belts all because of our passionate, educated staff and our dedicated students. This tradition will only continue so call to enroll and learn the art and discipline of self defense.
Omni Learning Centre is a preschool that provides an academically enriched curriculum for children from the age of 2 to 5 years. It is located inside an actual school, which provides an optimal learning environment and facilitates kindergarten preparedness.
Omni is an inclusive program and located in the Sagonaska School, which is considered a demonstration school. There are three main rooms used at the school for our programs – a classroom, motor room and large open gym. And we can’t forget our outdoor room. We have a fenced in yard with a playground for plenty of safe outdoor play.
