In the spring of 1987 an idea was put into motion to open a construction association which would address the needs of the ICI sector in the area.

Canada East Equipment Dealers' Association (CEEDA) was formally organized at a conference held in Toronto on December 12, 1945, under the leadership of Charles A. Cooper of Claremont, Ontario. On November 18, 1945, the Association was incorporated under the name of the Ontario Retail Farm Equipment Dealers' Association by Letter Patent. Those Letters Patent were amended in July 2006 to reflect the organizational name change to Canada East Equipment Dealers' Association.
