MCS Newsletter September 27, 2013Apple sales: This year we managed to sell just over 700 boxes of apples! This is a new record, 'congratulations and thankyou' to all who put the effort in to make this fundraiser a major success. Again, as last year, we hope to use the funds mostly for the promotion of The Arts in MCS. Last year we bought a drum kit, invited Sheila Berg and Fred Penner to visit MCS with their special skills. But first we will 'tithe' and give a gift of soccer balls to situations such as Mr. Dyck is in. We plan to give $700 towards sports equipment for Third World schools. Quarry Oaks under New OwnershipSteinbach businessman, Harold Rempel announced today the he and his brother Arthur have purchased The Links at Quarry Oaks. 'As long time fans of Quarry Oaks, Arthur and I are very excited about the future of the golf course,' said Harold. 'We are new to the golf industry and have found the business to be very complex. Quarry Oaks is a multifaceted property. It's a combination agricultural, recreational, retail merchandise, food, beverage, and service business. Keeping this in mind it will take a few months to understand and become somewhat familiar with each of these components. This first season will be an evaluation period, we need to fully understand the personality of the property, the market, and the customers we currently have. We are not going to make changes just for the sake of making changes, key employees are still in place, service levels will be maintained, and fees will not be raised.''With Harold and Arthur as the new owners, this is the beginning of an exciting new er,a I believe that local ownership is what the golf course requires to achieve its full potential, ' said Robin Henderson General Manager.
