The Melbourne Agricultural Society is a community organization that's run out of the Melbourne Agricultural Hall in Melbourn...e ON. The Melbourne Agricultural Society has been around for over 105 years. The Melbourne Agricultural Society hosts many community events out of the Melbourne Agricultural Hall ranging from dinners, dances, craft sales, 4-H livestock shows, and much more. The Melbourne Agricultural Hall is a venue that is rentable at a low price for weddings, birthday parties, anniversary's, funerals, showers, dances, family reunions, and whatever you can think of. There is lots of parking available and room for 300 people.

Our original homeland is found along the Eastern Seaboard of North America, specifically, areas known today as New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The Delaware, or Lunaapeew, as we call ourselves, are revered by other Indigenous Nations as 'the Grandfather Tribe. We established settlements up and down the Delaware and Hudson Rivers, where we farmed, hunted, fished and gathered for food, as well as traded with other Nations. At one time, our population is estimated to be in excess of 65,000.

In November 2005, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) announced plans to open a Community Health Centre (CHC) and satellite office in Chatham and Wallaceburg respectively. Chatham-Kent had been designated as severely under-serviced for family physicians for many years. It was later determined that a workstation would also be located on Walpole Island and possibly at another location in Chatham-Kent.The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres Steering Committee initiated a 'community engagement' process in February 2008 to ensure involvement of community members in the identification of priority populations that need CHC services, involve the community in decision-making, and build partnerships for the CHC.
